The Chinese Zhejiang Province intends to invest heavily in the economy of Minsk Oblast, Governor of Zhejiang Province Li Qiang said during a meeting with chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Mayor Semyon Shapiro, BelTA has learned.
During the visit of the Chinese delegation Minsk Oblast and Zhejiang Province signed an agreement on establishing friendly relations. On 11 May Minsk hosted the trade and economic interregional conference of business leaders of the two regions. Commenting on the prospects for the development of bilateral relations, Li Qiang said that Zhejiang Province intends to direct considerable investment in Minsk Oblast. "The leadership of the province will encourage Chinese businessmen who will want to invest in Belarus. In turn, we would like to say that Zhejiang is also open to Belarusian investment. We offer favorable conditions,” he noted.
Li Qiang said that the Chinese delegation's visit to Belarus during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was of particular importance. "The peoples of our countries have contributed to the victory over fascism," he said.
Semyon Shapiro noted that Minsk Oblast is implementing the first phase of the project to build the new plant BelGee and the Geely company which is involved in this project is based in Zhejiang Province "We are very grateful that you have overcome the greatest distance and visited Minsk Oblast. We have very good and sincere attitude to the Chinese people, and we see great support and understanding on your part. I think that we can achieve considerable success in this project,” he said. The Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee expressed confidence that the advanced Chinese technology will help make the products of the new factory BelGee very competitive.
