Belarusian automaker BelAZ redesigns 55-tonne haul truck

New solutions have been able to improve the uptime of the dump trucks in this carrying capacity range

The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ has made a new model of the 55-tonne haul truck, BelTA learned from the BelAZ website.

New solutions have been able to improve the uptime of the dump trucks in this carrying capacity range. BelAZ's proprietary modern automated hydromechanical transmission of the planetary type with six forward speeds and one backward speed gives the truck an optimal combination of speed and driving force. It makes driving smoother and safer. An automatic system for controlling the hydromechanical transmission improves operational parameters of the vehicle, extends its lifetime and improves reliability by keeping all parts operating in an optimal manner. The new model also boasts an improved driver compartment with better visibility, a dashboard featuring LED lights, improved lining and insulation materials.

The basic options include components that improve operational qualities of the haul truck such as a remotely controlled fire-extinguishing system, a centralized lubricating system, a tire pressure control system, a starting preheater, a video imaging system, a heater combined with an air conditioner, a system to control the load and fuel levels, and an alarm to warn the driver about proximity to a high-voltage power line.

The first BelAZ 7555N haul truck was sold to one of the largest coal-mining companies in Russia's Khakassia. The model is designed to transport rock mass in complicated conditions of deep open pits along temporary roads in air temperatures varying from 50 degrees below zero and 50 degrees above zero. Taking into account feedback from customers, BelAZ specialists work hard to make vehicles as effective, economical, and reliable as possible.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's top manufacturer of haul trucks with a large carrying capacity and an extremely large carrying capacity as well as other heavy transport equipment used in the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. Over the course of 70 years the company has made over 500 various modifications of haul trucks and special-purpose vehicles. The company has sold some 146,000 vehicles to 72 countries.
