Stayki will host the World Masters Sambo Championship

The World Masters SAMBO Championships will be held from 19 to 22 November at the Stayki RCOP, BelTA learned.

Athletes will compete for medals in the age groups 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-65, 65-70 and 70+. Weight categories of athletes - 62, 68, 74, 82, 90, 100, 100+ kg.

In addition to wrestling matches, the guests of the tournament will enjoy various activities and master classes from the legends of world sambo. For example, the 14-time Guinness Book of Records record holder Mikhail Surikov from Vologda plans to set two new world records as part of an additional program - a fist stand supported on a board with nails with an additional weight of 15 kg and push-ups on nails.

- Since there are not many such events in the world now, we will do everything to ensure that guests and participants get the best and brightest impressions of the tournament itself, of the events associated with it and, of course, of the traditional Belarusian hospitality, - commented on the information about the holding of the world Forum in Minsk, member of the Executive Committee of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), head of the Association of Athletes "We Come from Sambo", Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and multiple world champion in sambo Vladimir Yaprintsev.

The organizers are the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus, the association of athletes “We come from sambo” with the support of the Standing Committee of the Union State.

Earlier, the International Sambo Federation announced the cancellation of several major tournaments scheduled for 2020. Among them was the World Championship among the masters, which was originally planned in the Netherlands for October. However, this decision has been revised.
